On last Saturday, December 19th, 2009, I visited Pragati Maidan, New Delhi for the first time. I have heard about it lots of time concerning some trade fairs, book fairs and other famous exhibitions but never had the chance to visit it. My actual destination was the Old Fort of Delhi but I noticed that I can just walk down the place, so I decided to do it.
Pragati Maidan is the main venue in New Delhi for large scale exhibitions. Its complex is strewned with contemporary design, designated places of various states and is surrounded by greenery. There are five permanent exhibitions which include the Nehru Pavalion, Atomic Energy and Defense Pavilion.
The main event held at Pragati Maidan is International Trade Fair, on whose eve it was actually founded. There is a Metro Railway Station outside Pragati Maidan and I actually traveled in Metro Train for the first time to Karol Bagh.
Whenever you visit Pragati Maidan, there is at least something for you to see and enjoy. Such areas provide a unique place for exhibitions, fairs, festivals, events and expos to be held.
